Zapato XV * 20/06/2023 is an impressive young PRE stallion, the traditional baroque type. He is well developed for his age, with a mature, balanced personality. A beautiful young stallion with presence, substance and a highly interesting pedigree. Zapato is a recent arrival at the yard of one of our favorite professional trainers. His main focus is classical dressage, and the Spanish High School. What makes his training particularly appealing is his natural and versatile approach: Natural Horsemanship, groundwork and trick training are combined with classical work under saddle. Zapato is currently being started under saddle and carefully prepared for his future education, even riding bareback in just a stable halter. This relaxed, trust-based approach provides an excellent foundation for his future training.

His pedigree is equally exciting and reveals a treasure trove of proven PRE bloodlines. Zapato is a great-grandson of the legendary Utrerano VII, an Elite stallion bred by the renowned Bohórquez stud (video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HAEkNNDks0 ). Utrerano VII achieved international recognition particularly as the sire of the world-famous dressage stallion Fuego de Cárdenas. With his spectacular performances at the highest level of international dressage, including the World Equestrian Games and Olympic Games, Fuego made both PRE and dressage history (video: https://youtu.be/vdfTjcCOWvw?si=A8sX2PHLIoLa5jzo). Zapato himself was bred by Paco Lazo and his pedigree also incorporates origins from Escalera lines. His mother Zapata IX  is a Paco Lazo broodmare with valuable Cartujano influence. Her pedigree includes traditional bloodlines such as Urquijo, Pallarés and Terry.

ZAPATO XV therefore combines the sought-after classical baroque PRE type with a balanced temperament, thoughtful and versatile training, and an exceptionally interesting genetic background. A promising young stallion whose future development will certainly be exciting to follow.
