Description

QUETZAL-K * 19/03/2020 is a charming, medium-sized Lusitano gelding with a PSL passport, interesting dressage potential, and an exceptionally kind temperament. He is both ridden and driven and comes with an exciting pedigree: his grandsire is the famous Lusitano stallion Escorial! Quetzal is a very sweet, friendly, and people-oriented horse who is uncomplicated in everyday handling. He is very sociable with other horses and is certainly not a dominant type. He currently lives outside in a paddock 24/7, travels extremely well and behaves perfectly for the farrier. At present, he is shod only in front. His behavior during all normal daily care and handling is excellent. He has been mainly driven in the stud he was born and started late under saddle. Therefore, his current ridden training is more 4/5year old level. This makes him an interesting opportunity for someone looking for a well-mannered and experienced horse whose ridden education can still be developed further. He knows basic lateral work such as shoulder in and leg yield, and has a amazing canter! Out hacking, Quetzal is 100% traffic safe and calm and reliable when accompanied by another horse. He can also be hacked alone and shows no bad behaviour, although he is still a little less confident on his own. With more experience, time and a confident rider, he should continue to gain security.

We see Quetzal as a lovely partner for a competent young rider or adult rider with an intermediate to advanced level who is comfortable continuing the education of a younger horse. He is ideally suited as a versatile leisure horse while also offering interesting potential for dressage and lower-level competition.

Current FEI veterinary X-rays and a negative piroplasmosis test from August 2026 are available.
