Júzcar the Smurf Village

Located 113 km away from the city of Malaga and 25 km from Ronda, in the autonomous province of Andalusia, Juzcar has become a hotspot for worldwide travelers, and one of the most recognizable villages in Spain. Once a traditional white village, the picturesque hamlet changed its look becoming  the first “Smurf town” in the world in June 2011. The pretty Andalusian village, home to just over 200 people, was painted blue in 2011 as part of a publicity stunt by Sony Pictures in a bid to promote The Smurfs 3D movie at the time.

Zip lines (Tirolina de Júzcar) are among the highlights of this community. A popular activity in Júzcar is to slide down at high speed and admire the beautiful nature surrounding the village from above. The first zipline is the Salto del Villano which is 200 meters long and the second is the Salto del Gran Zul which is 150 meters long. With one ticket you can use both cable cars, which are suitable for both children and adults. This unique outdoor adventure park also features a Tibetan bridge and several climbing walls, so fun and adventure are guaranteed! We recommend that visitors to the Blue Hamlet continue along the MA7303 until they arrive at the village, avoiding the roads “Calle Los Riscos” and “Calle Solete”, because these side roads are very steep and narrow.  It is reported that the Júzcar zip line is normally open on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., except for the month of January when it will remain closed for holiday reasons.
